Katie, a Cleveland native, found yoga several years ago while going through a difficult, personal time. She found yoga helped release stress and enjoyed the way it incorporated gentle movement into the body. It was love at first practice. As time has passed and her practice has grown, Katie enjoys everything from slow flows to hot powerful flows. It truly depends on the day and what she feels her body needs.

Attending Balance and Brews events inspired Katie to attend her 200 hour yoga teacher training which she completed with Yoga Roots and lead teacher, Katy Knowles. She is currently enrolled in her 300 hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training with Soul of Yoga, located in San Diego, one of Katie’s favorite places to visit.

Katie lives in Ohio City with her husband, 3 dogs and 2 cats. It really is an animal house. If she’s not teaching or practicing at a Balance and Brew’s event, you can find her working behind the bar at Saucy Brew Works or teaching yoga at Cleveland State University’s recreation center. Traveling is important to Katie and she takes every opportunity to explore somewhere new. Several of her favorite brewery visits have been Pure Project, Modern Times, and Stone Brewing (SoCal),  Weihenstephaner (Germany), Ommegang (NY) New Belgium (CO), and Half Acre (IL).

They’re my favorite events to be at because we get to go hang out after practice and connect with friends (new and old) and sip on a delicious beverage. It’s a judgment free zone and practices are absolutely accessible to everyone. I’ve gone through tremendous personal growth since joining the Balance and Brews team and I’ll be forever grateful for that.”
